Eugene L. "Gene" Kowalski, 95, of Cuba City, Wisconsin, died Wednesday, March 27, 2019, at Epione Pavilion in Cuba City. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 30, 2019, at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Cuba City with Rev. David Flanagan officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 4-7 p.m. Friday at Casey Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Cuba City. Friends may also call from 9:00-10:15 a.m. Saturday at the church before the service.

Gene was born on May 25, 1923, in Dickeyville, Wisconsin, the son of Jacob and Catherine (Timmerman) Kowalski. He married Rita I. Kaiser on April 28, 1948, at Immaculate Conception Church in Kieler. She preceded him in death on October 12, 2015.

Throughout his life Gene was devoted to his wife and family. Faith, family, neighbors and friends were important to him. Farming was his passion. Those who met him quickly regarded him as a dependable and gentle man. He served on the St. Rose of Lima Parish Council, was a Catholic Order of Foresters member, and was a meals-on-wheels volunteer.

Survivors include four daughters, Mary Kay (Russ) Leonard, of Milwaukee, WI, Jane (Terry) Timmerman, of Dickeyville, WI, Lori (Tom) Foht, of Germantown, WI, and Nancy (Chris) Manley, of Muskego, WI; one son, Dale (Becky) Kowalski, of Prairie Du Sac, WI, a daughter-in-law, Janet Kowalski, of Cuba City, WI; one brother, Isadore (Diane) Kowalski, of Cuba City, WI; fourteen grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Robert "Bob" and Kevin; three sisters, Dolores Quinn, Ramona Bode, and Bernadette Jansen; three brothers, Victor, Norbert, and Leroy; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Gene Quinn, Joseph Bode, Virgil Jansen, Helen Kowalski, Doris Kowalski, Lillian Kowalski, James and Bertilla Leibfried, Francis and Rosalia Droeszler and Elmer and Dorothy Kaiser.

Gene's family will be forever grateful to the many caregivers and health care professionals at Epione Pavilion, Park Place Senior Living and Southwest Health Center. The dedication of the religious ministers is also greatly appreciated.

Memorials may be given to St. Rose of Lima Parish or the Cuba City Rescue Squad.

My condolence to the family & friends of Eugene Kowalski. It is obvious from the kind expressions that he will be fondly remembered. As you cherish the many memories, reflect on the time when sickness & death will be conditions of the past! (Revelation 21:3,4; 1Corinthians 15: 26) This is a promise made by our loving God Jehovah & Jesus Christ guaranteed the hope of seeing our loved ones again by means of the resurrection. (John 5:28,29; Acts 24:15; Isaiah 26:19)
May God’s word, the thoughts & prayers of others & the many fond memories of Mr. Kowalski comfort you each day, as we await the fulfillment of His promises! (Joshua 23:14)

Eugene and Rita were the most beautiful couple. The love they shared was wonderful. They are back together again fretting over each other, holding hands and caring for the other. They were one of my favorite couples at Park Place. One always worried about the other. My thoughts and prayers are with the family, but I can't help but smile when I think about how happy they are once again.
